Andy Warhol, Sitting Bull
Andy Warhol’s Sitting Bull is a part of the “Cowboys and Indian” series of images created by Warhol in 1986, near the end of his life.
Some thought Warhol sensationalized the iconic figures he used for this series but Warhol had a deep personal interest in Native American rights and the culture. Sitting Bull and the “Cowboys and Indians” series was his homage to the history of the Wild West.
This Sitting Bull is stamped and initialized on the verso by the Estate of Andy Warhol and The Warhol Foundation.
